This Challenge Applies To Golden Ridge Reserve. In this challenge, you will visit four (4) remote lakes off the beaten path and hook a diamond. Diamond, you say? Which Diamond Species is up to you, but I will give you my recommendations along with hook and bait for the target fish at each location. You may be surprised at what you catch! I have personally fished these spots and landed many Diamonds.
Please feel free to do these in any order and at any time you wish—the only goal is to hook a Diamond at each location. Please return and post your comments about what you caught in the article's comment section.
First Up location # 1 is a less-fished spot on the Golden Reserve: Challange, Land a Diamond Golden Trout, or any Diamond.
- Getting There: Start at Roaring Devil. Try to Stay on the trail as the trail meanders up the mountain. At times, you may get lost or even run into a rock.
- Time: Day Server
- Target Fish: Golden Trout
- Recommended Tackle: Start with a #6 minnow and then switch to a #5 spoon. Use rod holders with eggs on a bottom rig to get things going.
- Throw out a Bait Ball - Pro Performance. Try casting around the center of this lake.
Second on the list is A remote lake nestled in the mountains on the left side of the map, surrounded by tree stumps that you will never forget. You'll ask yourself, why did the EW developers do this to me all the while trying to navigate up that hill for this Diamond?
- Getting There: Start at Full Stomach Trail Head, far left on the map, driving as close as possible; then, you'll need to get out and go the rest on foot. Getting there is half the fun:)
- Time: Day server
- Target Fish: OHRID trout
- The recommended tackle is a number 7 spinner. Keep fishing until you land it; this one may take a few visits Before the late gives up the diamond. Don't be surprised if you give a few gold whitefish.
Third on the list: we venture back to the Far Right Side of the Map to the Bluegill Country. Everyone wants a diamond bluegill; if so, this spot is for you.
- Getting there: Start at Ruby Range Outpost or Trout's Beard just north of Ruby Range Ridge Outpost - Climb baby climb to the Northeast until you get to Bluegill country.
- Time: Day server
- Target fish: Bluegill or Green Sunfish - you may also find a few perch hanging around.
- Recommended tackle #8 minnow on a float fishing set-up; good luck. Try casting out in the spot as shown in the blue marker.
Bonus Map for the Elusive Mountain White Fish - Who's up for it?
This is a Bonus Remote Lake Map with Diamond Level Mountain Whitefish - if you know what you are doing.
- Getting There: Start at Jagged Dew Drop Trail Head, Drive as close as possible, or Hike out. Don't forget to carry a sandwich with you. To say this lake is remote is on another level. There is no easy way to get there, but oh, how sweet the rewards are.
- Time: Day or Afternoon Server (I caught mine in the day)
- Target Fish: The Mountain Whitefish
- Recommended Tackle: After hooking a few silver whitefish using a #6 Redworm on a float rig or Bottom Rig. Pull out your #6 Spinner and go for the Diamond.
