While out taking some bird photos I was busy admiring the beauty of the Eagle, then turned around to see this very large River Turtle walking across the road.  I had spotted her earlier the day before digging out her hole to lay eggs, and hopefully, the eggs survive until hatching. Predators like Racoons, and Foxe's wreck turtle nest with their keen sense of smell and ability to dig out the eggs. This turtle today was heading back to the river after laying her eggs.

This fine lady was returning from a egg laying trip from the dry soil of the park to ensure continued existence, I was both lucky and blessed to encounter her as she made her journey back to the river's safety.  Although she was calm and did not feel threatened by my presence, I had no desire to approach further until she was well into the brush and on her way.   I consider these encounters rare and I make memory and photographic records - then come back later to have my senses stimulated once again. What a wonderful sight.
